Mac upgrade to v9

Anyone having issues with Mac clients not upgrading to Sophos v9?  I added a new software subscription that downloaded v9 so I can slowly upgrade the macs.  A new updating policy was created along with a new group but moving the Mac clients over results in no upgrade.

If I install v9 on a new Mac, everything works great.  I compared all extensions in the ESCOSX directory to the extensions denied on the file name extensions tab under Request filtering and did not see any extension being blocked.

  • Hello dluneau,

please check the Sophos log on one of the clients. It should show you whether the download or the install failed.

  • If you have a new subscription: One thing to check is that you have selected the right subscription in the new updating policy (check the AutoUpdate 'Subscription' tab).

    Example:

  • I do have the correct subscription on the updating policy.

  • Thanks for replying QC.  These are the errors I found.

  • I think mime types need to incude .app and .icns for version 9.  Worth checking that.

  • Thanks for the quick response.  I just checked and found the following:

    Extension: .*

    MIME Type: application/octet-stream

    Entry Type: Local

This is how IIS was configured when we first deployed a couple of years ago.  This looks like the article.

Do you think I should add those extensions anyway?

  • So I created a test environment.  Here are logs from test environment and production environment.  The test worked when moving mac client with v8 to a new group that has different updating policy for v9.

  • Files with no extensions were not being allowed in IIS settings.  Once we allowed, Macs began to update to v9 just fine.
