Sophos puts all my mail into spam filter ? ?

I'm using the latest version of Sophos free; on my iMac it works beautifully, but on my laptop (a MacBook Air) on which I'd swear all the settings are the same, the Sophos spam filter eats everything.  I can't figure out why or how to fix it.  both machines fully updated, runnng Mavericks latest OS.  Suggestions, Please?  many  thanks, Tony

  • Sophos AV for Mac doesn't provide email spam filtering.  SAV v8 provides on-access or on-demand disk checking.  Version 9 adds web protection (blocking either web content or web pages in your web browser).

Email isn't scanned as its synced from your email server, but if an attachment is written to disk and is a threat SAV blocks it then (the on-access kicks in).

Check your mail settings and routing etc.

  • Ruckus,  I must have a different version of Sophos.  on my iMac there are options, under the Message menu, to tag an email file as Spam -- or if it tagged it erroneously, to tag it " not spam"  ...  so your answer doesn't fit in with my experence.  What am I not telling you correctly?

The version on my iMac reports:  Sophos Anti-Virus 8.0.22C; threat detection engine 3.50.1

Threat data: 4.97, protects against 6307046 threats

It also offers to scan all files and folders for virus threats.

    Many thanks.  tony.
