Cleanup cannot be completed

I have the free version for my Mac and received the attached alert. When I try to do a cleanup of a detected threat the wheel keeps spinning and eventually I get a message saying the cleanup cannot be completed. Please help. Thank you.

  • In the screenshot the path to the item is not shown.  It says to authenticate.  Once you click the padlock is the path revealed?

  • I am having the same problem.  In my case, the action is authenticated and the details include " Action Available: The selected threat can be cleaned up".  However, when the threats are selected and the cleanup button pressed, the wheel continues to relvolve without completing the cleanup.

    The threats are:

    Troj/HkMain-BE

    Mal/Generic-L

    Mal/Generic-S

Any advice on how to resolve this would be appreciated.

  • I too have the same problem!

Sophos found the threat and has been trying to clean it up for days without success.

I can't find the path to the file either.

    Any suggestions?

    I have an iMac OSX10.9.5

  • Good evening.

Could someone please advise how to rid my mac of this trojan? I'm a little lost as to what to do following a manual scan - can't clean nor delete the threat.

    TIA x

I'm running OSX 10.9 and the free edition for my mac

  • Failure to clean up is normally down to the path or file no longer existing or the path is to a backup file or email - or somewhere that Sophos Anti-Virus cannot access/ delete the threat from. So from the path shown in Quarantine Manager check that path actually exists. If the path mentions a backup watch this…

If the path mentions an email/mail path watch this…
