Download link: Access Denied

Hello Dears, :smileyhappy:

I can't download new version, 9.x because, Access Denied, You don't have permission to access "http://downloads.sophos.com/home-edition/savosx_90_he.zip" on this server. :smileysad:

Please help me!

I'm from the first users of Sophos Antivirus for Mac Home Edition.

Thank you all. :smileyhappy:

  • Thanks for checking, ruckus :)

I try again but don't work for me!

I also connect to the Internet with (and without) a Kerio service (and also Proxy and VPN) but still can't download!! :smileysad:

    What's up Dears? :smileylol:

  • Not sure what's causing it, but I don't think it's a problem with our servers.  I've just trying again.

    Here's what happens for me...

I also pinged the downloads.sophos.com address and it replied with a 92.122.123.48 address...

    2014-02-10_13-03-12.png

...but that probably doesn't help much as you need to use the DNS address.

I'd be interested in what steps you go through, so the problem is clear, what link you click on and exactly what is seen.  However I don't think it's a problem at our end. :smileyfrustrated:

  • Hi :)

    Thanks ruckus

I trying to download again... Also I pinged the same link and IP (that you pinged) and receive same replies.

But seems that my ISP block my access to the sophos servers or Iran has been blacklisted by Sophos! because I download savosx_90_he.zip just using a VPN.

The same issue occurred while SAV is updating...!!

Can I change the SAV's settings that to be updated just when the Kerio VPN Client has been connected? or manually update will be useful?

    Best regards

  • So VPN on and the download/updates work, and VPN off the download/updates fail?  Routing then.

All the updating settings are hard-coded in to make it simple to get up and running so you can't alter anything there.

That means you either investigate what's blocking the traffic to your computer and try and get it unblocked, or the workaround is to switch off automatic updating and manually download when the VPN is on. :smileyfrustrated:

  • I can't figure out why it won't update.  I checked the primary location as well and it looks okay from the video

  • AutoUpdate settings look OK - going to 'Sophos' and the credentials look like the pre-programmed username you typically get.

I'd recommend trying a reboot just to be sure.  If that doesn't work give it a couple of hours, reboot again and try an update.  Post back what happens.

  • I also tried adding Sophos for bypassing a proxy incase that was an issue, attached, but that didn't help either

After restarting my computer there was this message:

Do you want the application "Notify.app" to accept incoming network connections?

Is this associated with the Sophos software?

  • Assuming the wifi/cable is all working, is this a laptop that you could try on a different network?

It's rare to have an updating problem with Home Edition that doesn't involve routing (i.e., the network causing the problem).  Since our servers are load balanced and have high availability it's not likely to be that.

What I've suggested in the past, and it would be interesting if this works:  Delete the previous SAV9 install/zip from your Downloads folder.  Download a fresh copy.  Uninstall SAV (Type: 'remove sophos' into Spotlight and run the unintaller).  Then extract and run the installer from the fresh download.  I'd be interested if just doing that helps at all?  Screenshot the log and AutoUpdate tab again if there is a problem or post back if it works.

  • That worked! Thanks so much!
