it's during the installation witch block on the connection sophos virus update…

so I can't install it…

it's was just LittleSnitch block rules ;)

Hey, same problem with the updates here, though I've checked my proxy settings and I'm able to access the internet nominally.  The diagostics agrees and say's everything is fine but still no connection, therefore no install....  Suggestions?

Hello. Just downloaded the free Home Edition for Mac (72) and it won't get past the updates phase at the beginning of the install, and thus won't install. My guess is that the servers are overloaded since the announcement of it being offered for free. Here's the message:

The installer cannot configure anti-virus updates.

Unrecognised response from Sophos server.

Please try again later.

Perhaps you can confirm the status of your servers for us?

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems installing the product. Please can you try the following and let me know the outcome:

REX21ALLAN:

Try renaming the file: 

/library/preferences/loginwindow.plist to

/library/preferences/loginwindow.old

Then try the install again, please confirm it now completes without error.

When installing Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition it attempts to connect to a https address to register in order to provide you with your credentials to allow the program to update. It sounds like from your description that there is possibly a problem reaching the registration server.

As a test please can you open a browser on the Mac you are attempting to install to. Copy the following URL and advise what result you get:

https://savmacfree.register.sophos.com/

After trusting the website, it says 403 forbidden.

I can't use autoupdate either.

Same problem with the installation here, though I've checked my proxy settings, and I'm able to access the internet normally, my diagnostics agree and say's everything is fine, but still no connection, therefore no install. When I manually connect to "https://savmacfree.register.sophos.com/" I get "403 Forbidden".

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
