How to delete a Demo License

Hi

For testing I have installed a demo license for the product "Data Exchange". Infortunaly there's no "uninstall license" function.

The problem is... reaching the expiring date no Policy will be applied on a client at all, so the hole Safeguard Enterprise Service is stopped :-(

Does anyone have an idea how to handle this?

best regards

AndyPan

    Hi AndyPan,

Thank you for joining the forum and posting your question.

I'm assuming you are using SGN 5.40 which has a license expiration date that is far out there to keep you covered.

If you have a production license as well, what you can do is reapply the Default License.XML found in the c:\Program Files\Utimaco\SafeGuard Enterprise\Management Center directory, of course assuming you installed the SGN MC there. Using the SGN MC in the Licenses tab found on most of the container objects point to that installation directory. Click the button to apply the new license. This will reset your eval license. Using the same process, now apply your production license you received when you purchased SGN.

This will set you right. If not, please provide some details on what is not right so we can get things squared away.

  • We had a similar problem and got the following response :) It worked for me!

As you can see from the screenshot you provided, you have two demo licences listed in the Management Center (even though you are not using them). The clients are picking up the fact that these licenses are listed and so are incorrectly reporting that they are licensed to an evaluation.

To resolve this issue, do the following:

    - Backup the SafeGuard database.

    - Remove all of the rows from the licences table that show a demonstration-type licence with the following command

    osql -E -S <sqlServerName>\<sqlInstanceName> -d safeguard -Q "delete from licences where lic_licence_typ='demo'"

  • Hi David

    Thanks for your replay.

The problem I have is that I just only test the "Data Exchange" function, but I didn't buy it. Bad, isn't it?

    best regards

  • Hi Andrea,

Are you still only testing the overall solution? If you made a purchase of say SGN DE and MC only, then you can apply that license after you applied the Default License.xml file.

Have you completed your testing of DX?

  • Hi David

Yes, I finishes my test and I'm not planing to purchase this product. Now.. I have "demo license" installed and I can't get it out.

    best regards

    Hi Andrea,

Following the steps that DJ or myself provided earlier in the discussion will be able to help you to remove the expiring demo licenses of DX. Please let us know the solution you chose was helpful. :smileyhappy:
