Lenovo T430 Issues

I am having an issue with Sophos Safeguard Enterprise and Lenovo T430 laptops.

Default OS configuration is Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Install works fine. As soon as POA kicks in the laptop Continously reboots. I've tried all hot key combinations with POA and nothing seems to fix it.

UEFI Secure boot is set to legacy. Anyone else run into this issue with Windows XP on this model? I already have a case created with sophos for the issue but I figured I would reach out to the community as well. Thanks for any responses in advance.

  • I also have the exact same issue testing the software on T430, X230 and X230 Tablet under Windows 7. Can anyone from Sophos come back to us?

    Thank you

  • If you have not put in a case with Sophos you need to. Sophos supplied me with a SGNClient hotfix that does fix the issue. This is a known issue with Developers. I don't know why it hasn't funneled down to their support staff yet. But it needs to.

  • I am having the same problem with my T430.  I spoke to support and sent them some log files.  Where can I get the hotfix?

  • They don't have the hotfix made public. I got escalated to a Level 2 developer and he gave me a drop box link to download the hotfix files. Since then the link is no longer valid. The files that were givien to me were:

    SGNClient

    SGNClient_x64

    a MD5 hotfix file

POACFG.XML file for the POA Config.

These were different files than the client files I have. Last I was told the hotfix would be rolled up into the next Safeguard Release.

  • Hi all,

we have created a new Service Release for SafeGuard Enterprise 6.0, that is about to be released soon, which includes the POA hotfix that should solve your problems.

I'll update the post once the new version is available.

  • Hi Chris,

I have a case open regarding this defect and another case regarding SGN 6.0 MSI installer defects. Both apparently fixed in SGN 6.0 R1.

These "defects" are now affecting over 30 laptops, and we are now getting a hugh amount of pressure from senior management in order to meet compliance regulations of full disk encryption and data at rest encryption on servers. (Which 6.0 offers)

SGN GES / Dev have refused to provide the patch for the POA restart problem as SGN 6.0 R1 was meant to be released yesterday according to Sophos support.

However it looks like another broken promise.

What's the deal here? - Are we going to see 6.0 R1 this week or not!?
