AP50 poor speed/signal strength?

Hi,

I can not get a connection speed above 130 Mbps between the AP50 and my laptops. Not even with the AP and laptop placed 25 cm apart.

The signal strength (measured with iStumpler) is then at 75% at 2.4 GHz and 70% at 5 GHZ. I would have thougt the signal strength should have been at least up in the 90+ %?

The SSID in use is configured to use channel 3 and 48 and both the 2.4 and 5Ghz band and Tx power is set to 100%. The laptops connect at 5 Ghz. And there are never more than max 5 users connected at a time.

I have tried testing using a MacBook Pro Core i5 2.4 8 GB RAM Mid-2010 with Mt. Lion and a HP EliteBook 8540w Core i7 2.67 8 GB RAM Win 7 Enterprise and the newest Intel nic-drivers (local ap disabled as described in this thread - https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/76/t/64619).

The UTM is version 9.001-18 installed on a Shuttle SH61R4 with a Core i3-2100 Processor 3.1 GHz, 8 GB RAM and a 4-port Intel Ethernet Server Adapter I340-T4, and SSD 320 Series 80GB HD.

Is this the best performance to expect from the AP50 or is something wrong?

    The specs for AP50 states up to 300 Mbps - How does that compare to the 130 Mbps ?

    That is because of how wireless works at certain frequencies.  300MB is theoretical in the most absolute perfect conditions.  At best, you would get 130MB, because in order to achieve 300, you would have to operate at a frequency that isn't 'unlocked' for wireless (U.S. standards).  I believe to operate at 300MB, you would need to have a frequency of 40 MHz, which is also where Bluetooth resides.

    Frankly, you would have to 'hack' in order to get what it is you are looking for.
