Google Nexus tablet doesn't play nice with http proxy

I have a google nexus tablet as an experimental box. While trying to download updates through the web proxy it fails with various messages, the most notable one is host not found. If I disable the http proxy all the updates flow without an issue.

Also, in another thread someone asked about specific virus reporting, to se what the report looked like I enabled it on one of my utms.
I get a specific virus daily report of two applications from google as containing a virus and being blocked, yet the total UTM daily report does not show any virus as being blocked.

I have the same issue here with my Nexus7. Webproxy in transparent mode on and different app installs fail, while others work well.
When I put the device on the "skip transparent mode" everything works fine. The webfilter shows accepted connections anyway. It's the same with the Sony Android mobile.
