Google Nexus tablet doesn't play nice with http proxy

I have a google nexus tablet as an experimental box. While trying to download updates through the web proxy it fails with various messages, the most notable one is host not found. If I disable the http proxy all the updates flow without an issue.

Also, in another thread someone asked about specific virus reporting, to se what the report looked like I enabled it on one of my utms. 
I get a specific virus daily report of two applications from google as containing a virus and being blocked, yet the total UTM daily report does not show any virus as being blocked.

    Obvious one is to check the DNS on the UTM. If you disable the webfiltering, does everything work as expected?
    Finally, are you using Transparent mode or Standard (configured) proxy settings?

    proxy in transparent mode. The only device that doesn't work through the proxy is the nexus tablet. ipad, W8 phone, mac book pro (using to type this post) all work through the transparent proxy with check https urls ticked.

    The nexus connects to websites quite happily, currently sitting in front of me streaming music, just google apps fail.

    I've had similar issues on iPhones, with transparent WITH HTTPS scanning. They don't like it. Usually because Google Apps tend to use HTTPS and with the drawbacks of HTTPS scanning, many Google Apps get broken. Are you using full HTTPS decryption or simply URL filtering?

    Just using https filtering. I tried turning that off as well as disabling application control, neither had any affect. Turn off the proxy and all google apps download. Might change a couple of setting against the google setting in the webproxy and see what happens.

    i have http proxy on with a/v going and my apps works fine.  I do not have https filtered in any way.  maybe we can get together and i can take a gander at your config?

    Hi William,
    I will take you up on your offer, will send PM with access stuff.
    I have been investigating and cleaning up the web profiles.
    Could be because I have google in application control to block analytics, the robot and something else.and a web exception?

    just downloaded two apps without a problem. I will reset it back to factory defaults and see what happens?

    What did you do, I haven't looked the config yet?

    Reset the tablet to factory defaults and all the apps started updating without errors.
