[9.200] Web filtering causing slow internet browsing?

I upgraded to 9.200 a few weeks ago and noted no decrease in internet browsing speed.  The unit is a 320 with max 100 users behind it.  Most features turned on, including IPS and now ATP.  

As of the past few days, browsing is... SLOWWWW.  All of a sudden, sites with lots of images, say, a shopping website, are extremely slow to load.  I went in, turned Web Filtering off, and boom, right back to instant load.  Anyone else experiencing this?

As far as the web filtering config, pretty much default.  Transparent mode, single scan, only block p0rn, all other traffic allowed.

I rebooted the UTM which didn't help.
Thoughts?

    well.. I opened a support ticket, too. 

    Meanwhile I was playing around with tweaks.

    Skipping http.00.t.sophosxl.net - as Michael  described in the beta forum- helped a lot. 

    Now I experienced something more:

    As long as I use just one webfilter rule for my internal lan / wlan all is "quite" fine (it is much faster than before, you dont have to wait 5 secs untill an url is opened)

    But:

    When I setup anoter webfilter profile e.g. for a hotspot with doing whitelisting (deny all, and then allow just some safe categories) performance drops again.

    RAM is 20% CPU 9 % on a SG 230 at this point.

    Disabling the wlan network gives me back performance immediately.

    RAM and CPU dont change.

    So 9.2 is officially out now.
    Did the problem get fixed ?

    Targeted for 9.204 and will (likely) be in next 9.1 release as well.

    Hi, can you tell when this release (9.204) will be expected?
    The speed is the only thing that holds me from repacing all my customers TMGs with UTM...

    t14u - this speed fix is for a specific problem with Sophos Endpoints going through the UTM and even then only affects a small percentage of customers.

    I have no schedule for when this will be released, however I can say it has been tested and will go out in the next normal bugfix release.  Historically these are about once a month.

    so any change to get the "normal" browsing faster when Urlfilters are enabled?

    Excluding this issue with Endpoints, there have been 0 cases of performance problems that have been reported to Sophos Support (that I know of).  There has been talk in the forums, but nothing reported and nothing being investigated.

    If you are experiencing "normal" browsing slowness please log a ticket with Support.  If you already have a ticket, please PM me and I can look into its status.

    Hi, 

    I can not open a ticket, because I only have the Home License.
    We will replace all our TMGs of our customers with UTMs when this Problem is solved. Then I can open tickes, because I will buy this UTMs for our customers. Tests at the customer side also show this performance problems and they blocked buying the UTM.
    A Sophos Partner also took a look at the installation and confirmed the configuration of all my test installs are ok. Unfortunately the problem still exists and blocks us/customers from buying. 
    The Sophos Partner tried to open a Support ticket, but it was rejected because I am not his customer and so on...

    So: I am willing to assist and give feedback and even give you access to my home edition if anyone at sophos will look for this performance issues many of us have. But I can not open the ticket ;-)

    So now, what to do?

      Wait for the fix to be released. It should be about a month for 9.204  to show up.  

    Sophos employees can't go poking about in systems without a support contract in place, too many possible liability issues.
