Site Categorization Question

I have endpoint enabled to utilize the hybrid proxy lookup for our web filter.  I recently identified a miscategorized site on SmartFilter XL and was able to get TrustedSource to properly categorize it, however my filter is still blocking the site under the old (incorrect) category.  How long will it typically take before the appliance will recognize the site in the correct category?  Thanks.

    Chris, when you activate web filtering in Endpoint, the UTM switches over to Sophos categorization. In this case, SmartFilter XL no longer applies (Incorrect! See Michael's post below).

    Thanks Bob, I was wondering if that might be the case.  The interesting thing, however, was the site was available when I checked about four hours after my initial post.

    We use the same categorization data (SmartFilter XL from TrustedSource) no matter which categorization method you use.

    These databases (regardless of local or cloud) get updated 2-6 times a day.

    If you send something to TrustedSource it will take however long for them to update the category (visible on their site) and then one-to-twelve hours for it to be seen in the UTM - it should be updated at the same time regardless of method you use.

    Michael -  Everything is indeed now working as expected.  I had checked again roughly four hours after my initial post and the site was available.  Thank you for the clarification and additional info, it is most helpful.

    Thanks, Michael, I just assumed that it used the Sophos database like the classic Endpoint product - my bad!

    There are multiple SXL servers that are backed by different categorizers.

    When Endpoint has Web Control managed by SEC or SWA it uses the traditional Sophos categories.

    When Endpoint is managed by UTM it uses the traditional TrustedSource categories.
