[9.006-5] "Timeout while reading response from Server"

Hello and greetings from Germany,

we are using a Sophos UTM9 in the Version 9.006-5. If i try to get Data from a Portal in the Internet, i get this error:

If i´m selecting less data it works fine, so i think it depends on the mass of data! Is it possible to increase the timeout-time?

    Hi, Sven,
    statuscode="504"

    This usually means the server doesn't like working with proxies.  The first thing to try is an Exception for Anti-Virus.  If that doesn't work, you will need to add a DNS Host for datenportal.net-connect-germany.de to the 'Skip transparent mode destination hosts/nets' list.

    Hi Bob,

    i´ve made the configuration - waiting for a reply of the colleague.

    But i don´t understand, why the same is working with less data. There are hourly results for a month, and results for a day. If you choose the day, everything works fine. If you choose the month, the Portal has to send tonns of data. If my colleague try this at home, he has to wait until 5 minutes for the results. That´s way i think about the timeout.

    Thank you for your help, i will reply if i got an answer from my colleague.

    Sven, it looks like it's time for what I call Rule #1 (enhanced):

    Whenever something seems strange, always check the Intrusion Prevention,
    Application Control and Firewall logs.

    As i thought - it was a timeout. I did the following with root permissions:

    cc
    http 
    response_timeout$
    =180 


    Now it works fine!

    I'm glad you got there.  I was just trying to confirm that there wasn't another problem that might be hidden by increasing the timeout.  You could still check the logs to confirm that you're not having a related issue.

    This is done at the command line.  Be sure to read the warning when you login there!
    cc set http response_timeout 180

    Hi there,

    i have a similar problem. When trying to upload a file via browser I get the following message:

    Timeout while reading response from server

    Due my lack of knowledge I don`t know quite where I need to tackle

    What is the default setting,  so we can compare it to  his new 180?

    To get your current value (run as root):

    cc get http response_timeout


    Default appears to be 60 in 9.2.
