For single user devices can astaro automatically authenticate?

Hi,
Im running the web proxy in non-transparant mode. 
Im wondering if its possible (for use with ipads etc) to make astaro automatically authenticate them as a specific user?

    Well, kind of...

    An app like AAA for the iPhone/iPad would be an interesting suggestion for Astaro Security Gateway Feature Requests: Hot (979 ideas), and I bet Gert might even want to do that one himself! [;)]

    I think the best you can do is have DHCP assign each one a specific address based on its MAC, and then you can make Host definitions with those IPs and/or 'DNS Static Mappings', depending on what you're wanting to accomplish.

    Can you get the proxy to authenticate automatically based on a host definition? how?
    This would do just what I'm after.

    No, it's not possible with iOS at present.  What information are you looking for that you can't get now?

    I was hoping to be able to log accessed web pages by user, but for the ipads etc assume the owner is always the user.
    I've just been looking at the logging and reporting page and am wondering if I can do this another way.
    Under logging+reporting-web security-departments I have made a department for each child to make reporting easier (is this the best way?)
    I have just realised that I may be able to extend this by making each childs 'department' contain the child as a 'user' and their ipod as a 'host/network'.

    Is this a good way to achieve my aim? or am I going off on an unnecessary tangent?
