Chat site times out

Hi,

Out website has one of those embedded chat programs that allows potential clients to speak to a sales representative.

However after 30 minutes the sales representative is kicked out! I cannot see anything in the HTTP logs or Packet Filter to indicate why this is occurring.

Are there any defaults anywhere which would kill a connection after a specific period of time?

Hi,

What kind of chat is it? Flash, AJAX, Java, ...?
Is it only kicked out when the chat is idle or also if he's chatting?

Hi,

It is powered by Java I believe. I think it times out when they are idle.

Any more help most welcome.

Hmmm, strange.

If the chat is idle, it has to poll it somehow anyway to see if there are updates. Wondering that it times out.

Have you also used the program without Astaro (or with another Firewall)? Just asking me if it really is the firewall, or maybe the app itself. There may is configuration option for a keep-alive.

Oh, or try to sniff the traffic between the client and server with wireshark. Maybe you can see something there.

Whity,

It works fine without using the FW [:(] Hence the reason I believe it to be the FW that is somehow causing the issue.

I'm going to check the PF in more detail and as you suggested use WireShark to see if there is anything else that could case the issue.
