TV Guide updates failing - can't figure it out!

Hi all,

I am trying to download TV Guide updates for eyeTV and am having a problem getting them through the proxy. Here is the log of what is happening:

httpproxy[3966]: id="0001" severity="info" sys="SecureWeb" sub="http" name="http access" action="pass" method="POST" srcip="192.168.0.5" user="" statuscode="200" cached="0" profile="REF_DefaultHTTPProfile (Default Proxy)" filteraction="REF_DefaultHTTPCFFAction (Default content filter action)" size="2537298" time="24794 ms" request="0xa8b58f28" url="xmlrpc.macrovision.com/.../xml"

I have set exceptions but it still will not work. If I allow the computer to bypass the proxy, no problems....

Any ideas? Thanks for any replies!

  • action="pass" ... size="2537298" time="24794 ms"

25 seconds means that something is timing out.  Look in the Intrusion Protection log for an indication of whether it's blocking something.  If you see nothing there, temporarily turn IPS off to see if you might need an IPS exception.  Please document the solution you find.

  • Will do Bob - thanks for the heads up on that. I will check this tonight and report findings to this board...

  • When something stops working what worked before, it's the IPS in most cases.
  • I am still working on this and have not yet found a resolve but wanted to post back.

    1. Tried turning off the IPS - made no difference.
    2. Tried to create exceptions - made no difference.
    3. Allow this Mac to bypass Content Filtering - works like a charm.

I keep digging and will post fix results once I get there!
  • Like Whity said, with the new IPS, we're all gun-shy of problems related to it.  In fact, even though I know you've excepted AV, that's what it look like.  Try including everything in the exception so that there's no scanning that might cause it to not respond quickly enough to the macrovision serrver.  If that doesn't work, and you're running in transparent mode, just add //xmlrpc.macrovision.com/ to the skiplist.

    Cheers - Bob
