I don't think this is the same thing. I'm not sure though. Because I don't think it updates several times in an hr or day. This also refuses to let me download the file even after I try again.

you have to have at least that much memory free on your machine plus 10% for scanning overhead.  If you have less than 1 gig of ram you don't have this overhead room.  This is why i run 2 gigs of ram in my boxes.  Either increase the ram in your box, whilelist that site, decrease your file scanning side, or turn off the a/v scanning.

I've got 1gb ram and it's never used swap, plus I don't think the ram ever goes over a small percent, but not sure.

I need the scanning for a specific reason. It allows me to save files over my lan which I can't do without that scanning. I'm not really wanting to go into detail really. It;s just the way torrentflux is set up, [:(] sucks really.

With the scanning the files are saved to astaro pc and then I save as to a networked hard drive. without the scanning I have to save first to my mac then transfer to the networked hard drive. So this saves me time and space on my mac to have the av scanning on. This happens because of how stupid torrentflux is on this server.

I forgot to add the av scanning page needs the kb/sec changed so it's KB not little letters. Of course when really kb, then it should show little kb.

It's not an issue of swap if the a/v process hit a ram wall it's going to just slog through....you are using the a/.v scanner in a way it is not designed to be used(same goes for the entire http proxy subsystem judging by your other posts).  since you are using a web-based torrent system just turn off hte proxy and then right-click the link and goto save as and save directly to your lan drive.  If the web-server on the other end doesn't do this..it's time to find another provider since the way you want to use the ASG is not how it's meant to be done.  Since youa re saying the website running htis torrent flux is not letting you save files the way you want to ASG is not designed for this manner of usage...do the two step process or live with the asg not working correctly or get another torrent provider.

And the http proxy, I don't use it. At least it's not used by my choice. It is on via the default installation. So I don't know anything about it or why I would want it or not want it other then when filtering and having users log in or make changes in their browser and stuff like that. I don't do that. If I filter with the content filer it's for everyone and no changes are wanted on each computer. So I don't know if I have to use the http proxy or not and yes, I don't know much about it. I do know a tiny bit about it.

I have a problem with Av: if I used Firefox to download a file the AV scanning page shows up and then when it finishes the name of the download file changed to strange name; and the size of the file will be like 17 KB or so; although its original size was 25 MB; and sometimes I get the index.php thing!
When I use IE everything works fine; and also any encrypted file is blocked.

if you are using a/v scanning you are using the proxy..that's how it is designed.  With only 1 gig of ram if you are scanning 2 gig files you are running into swap..big time.  You need to have about 3 gigs installed in that firewall to handle what you are doing.

in FF to change it's downloading behavior is easy.  head into the option and in the main tab tick the box that says always ask me where to save files.
