[7.100] HTTP Proxy error? - PDF download stops

Hi.

With activated HTTP Proxy in V7.100 the download in the browser (IE7 and Firerfox 2.0.0.11) reproducable stops with the site http://www.t-mobile.de/downloads/t-mobile_broschueren/pdf_xtra--1207.pdf

No probleme do show (download) the PDF with disabled HTTP Proxy.

additional info:
I normally have no problem to download pdf files and no problems with t-mobile.de.

I can view the file http://www.t-mobile.de/downloads/iphone/tarifdetails.pdf

But I have the same problem with http://www.t-mobile.de/downloads/iphone/bedienungsanleitung.pdf

I have exactly the same problem with firefox.

Internet explorer give "404 - Seite nicht gefunden" in both cases (with and without proxy).

Using Firefox -> Adobe reader stops at 34,33 and says "stopped"

Even without Astaro, though. Some PDF files are on servers that do not work well with Adobe Acrobat. And the problem was not consistent. On some servers several retries would result in a success.

As I did not like this behavior, I set Firefox to save the PDF instead of open the PDF. This has worked flawlessly (so far, eh?).

It makes it one more step to open the PDF file, but it removes a lot of the BS from the equation.

i have this issue too. tried to read some reviews here: http://www.homecinemachoice.com/reviews/ and i had to turn of the proxy to be able to read them

The site works fine for me, PDF files and all, through the proxy.

The issue is that PDF is not reliable when put into a browser frame/window.

So change Firefox to save .pdf files and when you access the review you will be prompted to save the .pdf to the disk.

To do this, go to Tools | Options. Then click on the Content tab. The go to the File Types area and hit "Manage". Change the default operation on the file type from "Open" to "Save".

I have included a copy of my settings in Firefox. I don't like anything just running in the browser, so mine are all set to "Save".

I am having the same problem here, since installing 7.100. None of the clients in our Network can download PDF files. (IE7, Firefox, Maxthon). http://www.solidline.de/fileadmin/Dateiablage-SL/Unternehmen/SolidLine_Preise.pdf for instance. HTTP-PROXY is on in Standard mode. We've asked people outside the network to click on the link and they were all able to open the pdf. But not us behind the firewall.

Is this issue still being investigated?

I am in direct contact with svens from Astaro. He has got access to my ASG and has installed a http proxy patch. I am able to download PDF files but there are still some problems with Firefox and Adobe Acrobat 8.1 Standard (this is the plugin I use), maybe because of the used download manager in this programs.

Astaro is active to find a solution - i hope we will get a much more stable Proxy in V7.101 [:)]

I have the same problem, but i give the user all ( any ) rights, and the
download starts correct. I hope it helps.

Hi,

with an inactive proxy and "any" rights in the packet filter we all have no problems discussed here (I think that's your configuration).

My proxy profile configuration also allow access to all sites without any restriction (antivirus is active) but with the described problems.

I must use the proxy because of the (additional) antivirus protection, and the categorie filters and time filters for my children. The Astaro logo is well known at home [:)]

I have checked the proxy in standard and transparent mode without any difference (with my patched V7.100 HTTP Proxy).

There are some had problems if I download the test PDF file first with firefox, then with IE7 and then again with firefox. The proxy has problems with the downloadmanaging system (firefox and/or Adobe) I think.
