Live One Care Not Updating

I have Windows Live One Care on a Vista machine behind ASG.  It will not update.  Every other Anti-Virus I tried, McAfee, Kaspersky, Norton, AVG, all update just fine.  Only Live One Care is having a problem.

Any suggestions.

    I have not tried this yet with Vista, but here is a general solution to get Windows Update to work properly. These settings will allow the Windows update to bypass the Squid web proxy.

    1. Create a new network definition named Windows_Update_1, select the type DNS hostname (multiple records) for update.microsoft.com

    2. Create a new network definition named Windows_Update_2, select the type DNS hostname (multiple records) for download.windowsupdate.com

    3. In the HTTP proxy settings, enter both of these new networks  in the Skip source/destination networks: window.

    That's not exactly it.  Windows Update works fine.  It is Live Care Update that bombs.  Is there a specfic port I need to open or a specific URL I need to whitelist to overcome this?

    I too had this same problem with OneCare - also with MediaCenter GUide updates failing.

    Try running proxy in "Standard" mode - that seemed to help me for a while and it may help you.

    If not, what I did was sign up for McAfee Total Protection for Small Business. This is a Managed service. About the same cost as One Care and works perfectly with Astaro.

    Windows Live Once Care runs on several higher end ports of range 49500:49600

    To ensure that Windows Live One Care updates are functioning correctly, there are 2 steps you need to perform. 

    First, create a service definition under Definitions >> Services.  
    This is a TCP service running on source 1:65535 (or 1024:65535) and destination 49500:49600.  

    Once created, create a packet filter rule (Packet Filter >> Rules) that allows a source of any internal traffic, the service just created, and a destination of any to be allowed through the firewall.

    If you are using a standard or user auth proxy you will need to add the definition into the allowed target services.

    Any ideas on how to get Windows Media Center to update the guide through transparent proxy? I have stumbled on that one for over a year!

    I would appreciate any tips...
