Windows automatic update error

When downloading automatic updates from windowsupdate, i get an error in the log.

Error 0x80200013
Download job failed because of insufficient range support

When i googled it, I found this:

"BITS uses range header in HTTP requests to request parts of a file. If the server or proxy doesn't understand Range requests and returns full file instead of the requested range, BITS puts the job in ERROR state. Apache 1.3 proxy is known to show this behavior if the requested file is already in the cache."

I thing Astaro squid somehow ignores de range header.

My config: Astaro 6.102, virus scan, spyware scan, transparant proxying and no anonymity.
I already added al de windowsupdate sites to the Whitelist domains, I also tried to at the urls to URL whitlist, but I'm not sure if I got the regulair expressions right.

The question is ofcourse, how do I get BITS range support going with squid and Astaro antivirus.

    Add a network group with au.download.windowsupdate.com, download.microsoft.com, download.windowsupdate.com, and update.microsoft.com to the 'Skip source/destination networks' section on the HTTP proxy and that traffic will bypass the proxy.  That is what I have in place and the downloads work perfectly.  Be sure when you are adding the network definitions to select 'DNS Hostname (multiple records)' to cover all of the servers.

    I have exactly the same problem as piskin. I'm using Astaro 6.201 with transparent proxy and getting the same error:

    "Error 0x80200013

    I made a networkgroup just as notoriousiroc  said, and the problem was partly solved.

    Now i can't reach some websites if i have the newly made network group on the 'Skip source/destination networks'.

    www.imdb.com is one of the sites that doesn't work when i have the networkgroup added. If i remove the networkgroup from the skip-list, the imdb site works again.

    Anyone knows what's wrong?

    Hi,

    No, i have no rule for that since the only traffic that bypasses the proxy is windowsupdate.

    How come all http-traffic works besides www.imdb.com?

    Anyone else experience the same problem?

    I just tried your troublesome site and it works fine. Downloaded a trailer which started automatically. I have the HTTP proxy running for all external HTTP/s traffic.

    Ian,

    Do you have the networks, posted by notoriousiroc in this thread, in the skip-list when trying this?

    If i remove those networks from the proxy skip-list, i'm able to reach www.imdb.com to, but then i can't download any updates through automatic updates.

    Hi, all

    I have a problem on useing the WSUS behind astaro.

    We are using the Astaro as our proxy server and we install a WSUS server, which is used for windows update. The http proxy we are using the "User Autherntication" mode. The PCs in the network can update normally. But that WSUS server always failed. The error message like this: "The Server is not support the necessary HTTP protocol. Backkground Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) requires that the server support the Range Protocol Header."

    Could you please help to solve the problem?

    How to solved this problem in the "User Autherization" mode? The 'Skip source/destination networks' is only available in the "Tranparance Mode"
