Remote printing not working.

Home computer - iMac running OS Sierra (10.12.5)

Work computer - Windows 7 SP1

VPN Software - Tunnleblick

Remote Software - Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac Version 8

End user couldn't surf the internet from home while connected to the VPN. They have FIOS from Verizon. I didn't have the same issue. I have Xfinity from Comcast. All software and connecting scripts are the same. Remote Printing (from the Work Computer to the Home Computer) would take 3-5 minutes. Switched from the Xfinity DNS servers at Work to public DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). This solved the internet issue on the Home Computer. However, now the user can't print via their Remote Software. Note: I can remote in via LogMeIn and print with no issue. It appears to be VPN related entirely.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't think RDP from Windows to Mac has ever supported remote printing, because the print architectures are so different. If it can be done, it orobably requires the ThinPrint product.

It worked before I changed the DNS settings. It took a few minutes to print, 3-4 roughly, but it did print. Therefore I have to conclude that the newest version of Remote Desktop does support printing from different platforms. The older version didn't from what I recall.

So it sounds like the original problem was that he could not reach the configured servers through the tunnel. Why was he not configured to use an i ternal dns when connected with vpn into your internal network? In short, how is name resolution supposed to occur for devices inside his tunnel?
