L2TP Ipsec stays grey

Hi guys,

I just got some new hardware to install my sophos on. I did a clean install and a restore from backup. But now i'm not able to turn on my L2TP Ipsec. It says: "At least one user is needed for local authentication." I tried setting up a new user but no luck there.

Any ideas?

MarCow had a similar issue recently at https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/51/t/22539. A rebuild fixed it for him.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I have the exact same issue, but way too many firewall and web proxy configurations to want to hit the reset button. I've spent some time digging around, but I can't even seem to find an configuration file to reset.

Hello,

you can add the default admin to this connection by CC.

Try this as root:

cc
OBJS
ipsec_connection
l2tp
TAB - to choose the connection, there should be only one
users=['REF_DefaultSuperAdmin']
w
quit

Worked for me a few times.

Daniel,

Do you know if this command string works with software version 9.307? I've tried the command strings you mention, but "ipsec_connection" is not an option I see listed. The closest I've come is "remote_access" but I am still unable to set the users string.

Try this as root:

cc
ipsec_connection
l2tp
TAB - to choose the connection, there should be only one
users=['REF_DefaultSuperAdmin']
w
quit

Worked for me a few times.

Your instructions work great with just one hitch...you have to switch the cc mode to "OBJS" then move onto "ipsec_connection.
