Unable To Ping Hostname On LAN

Here is the setup ...

LAN: 192.168.1.0/24
VPN (SSL): 10.242.2.0/24

I have allowed the VPN to use the UTM as a DNS server

VPN DNS Settings:
Primary: 192.168.1.1 (UTM)
Secondary: 8.8.8.8

When I connect to the VPN, I get an IP 10.242.2.6 and can ping 192.168.1.10 without a problem. If I RDP to 192.168.1.10, it works perfectly. If I run NSLOOKUP and type 'servername', I get the proper IP address back

However, if I try to ping 'servername', it fails every time

Any ideas? [:S]

  • "No domain for this client." - If there's no domain, then you only will be able to ping by Host name from WebAdmin.  Is that the issue?

  • No. I need to be able to connect to the hostname through the VPN (from the remote end). I figured putting the hostname in the DNS of the UTM would help, but no good
