Allow multiple users connect to VPN at the same time from same public IP...

Hi,

I have Astaro ASG220 (v7.513).  I have two VPN accounts setup for remote users.

Both of this users are in same office with same public IP.

They both can connect to VPN fine, but they cannot connect and remain connected to VPN at the same time from same office.

If both have different public IP, then they can connect at the same time and remain connected.  But they both work from same office so they both have same public IP.

Any way to adjust this to allow both users to connect to VPN (using different login) at the same time?

Thank you,

Samir

  • Hi, Samir,

This is the router they have at their office that causes the problem.  There's no setting you can make in the UTM.  The only solution with V7 is to use two different Remote Access technologies, like SSL VPN and L2TP/IPsec, so that their inexpensive router can manage two tunnels simultaneously.

As Gil said, V7.513 is no longer supported, so you probably want to upgrade to V8.310.  That would let you use the RED (Remote Ethernet Device) functionality - a one-time expense of under $300, and the branch would appear to be connected locally to the Astaro.  The upgrade is free, but if your ASG220 only has 512MB of RAM, you would need to buy a new UTM or find a used ASG220 with 1GB of RAM.

When it's time to move to the current version, V9, you will need the newer UTM with 2GB of RAM.  Your reseller should be able to advise you.
