Cannot connect to internet after connecting to SSL VPN

I have ASG 7.503. I have setup SSL VPN to my home network. After I connect to the SSL VPN from my laptop, I can see my home network fine but all internet connectivity is lost. I have read all forum topics on this issue and have tried lot of settings but nothing works. The name resolution of any website fails.

Am I doing something wrong or is internet not supposed to work after connecting to SSL VPN?

    exactly...please tell us EXACTLY in detail how you have your dhcp setup on the astaro.

    DNS Server 1: 192.168.100.1 (Astaro's IP)
    Default Gateway: 192.168.100.1 (Astaro's IP)
    Lease Time 3600
    WINS Node Type: B-Node (no WINS)

    I have modified IP addresses to be different from my actual ones.

    I am on Windows 7. You have said correctly. When I connect to SSL VPN, and do a ipconfig /all, there is no entry for DNS server for the Astaro VPN adapter. After I manually configure the DNS server in the Astaro VPN adapter, the internet connection works fine.

    Is this a problem in the OpenVPN software which Astaro uses? Though it is not a big deal to manually configure DNS server, I just wanted to make sure that there is no setting which I am missing.

    no there is a configuration error in your astaro somewhere. What dns server is in your ssl vpn adapter when you first connect it?

    remote access------->advanced
    put in the appropriate information there.  for me the dns server is my AD server..for you put in that 10.x.x.x ip in there.  You will have to redownload the configuration for openvpn form the user portal after saving these changes

    I think Barry's implication is that, before V8, those settings on the Advanced tab won't apply to anything but PPTP and L2TP. [CORRECTION: William's comment is correct.  Over 10 months ago, Astaro configured the SSL VPN server to push 'DHCP-option DNS' settings.  At the same time, they also configured the IPsec server to send DNS settings to IPsec clients.  The on-screen documentation and the manual presently are incorrect that the DNS/WINS settings in 'Remote Access >> Advanced' only apply to L2TP and PPTP.]

    Arun, I wonder if your problem isn't the same one people were having with Vista last year, and that you need to install and run the client as administrator.

    uninstall openvpn..reboot..then follow the instructions here for reinstallation.  I prefer removing UAC then you don't have to do the admin installation shuffle but it's up to you..[:)]

    If this doesn't work then there's something else wrong.

    Thanks so much for your reply. I had seen this setting but the on screen instructions said that it worked only for PPTP and L2TP so I never tried it. After I configured the DNS server to 10.242.2.1, I can connect to internet while connected to SSL VPN.

    Major problem solved. Thanks to everyone for working with me on getting this problem resolved.
