Cannot connect to internet after connecting to SSL VPN

I have ASG 7.503. I have setup SSL VPN to my home network. After I connect to the SSL VPN from my laptop, I can see my home network fine but all internet connectivity is lost. I have read all forum topics on this issue and have tried lot of settings but nothing works. The name resolution of any website fails.

Am I doing something wrong or is internet not supposed to work after connecting to SSL VPN?

    I found the problem and a workaround but not sure what could be the cause and a proper resolution. I noticed that in ipconfig /all, the IP address assigned to Astaro SSL VPN adapter on my laptop was 10.242.2.10. The DNS Server/DHCP Server/Default Gateway are all assigned the same IP address that is 1 lower,  10.242.2.9. This is incorrect. I changed the DNS server of Astaro SSL VPN Adapter to 10.242.2.1 and internet has started working while connected to SSL VPN. The DHCP server and default gateway are still at 10.242.2.9 and I cannot even ping this IP. 

    What is a proper resolution? Thanks for working with me on this issue.

    Can someone please help with issue? It seems like a bug. Is it possible to get ASG to hand out the correct DNS server IP address?

    do you have a dns or dhcp server on your lan?  If you are using the astaro fixing dhcp is easy..just fix your astaro dhcp..but astaro is not a dns server so you neeed to setup one of those on your lan.  once i get back from taking my girls to school i will detail my ssl vpn setup on both networks and let you see how its configured.

    Thanks William. I think I will not need a DNS server. If I manually override the DNS server to 10.242.2.1, the setup works fine. The problem is that ASG is not handing out the correct IP address for DNS server when I connect through VPN. I have the same problem with iPhone VPN connection to ASG. In iPhone there is no way to manually override the DNS server settings. It has to be fixed somehow on ASG. I am a home user so I do not have any support to file a bug.

    Please let me know your configuration details. It will help me configure things properly. If DNS/DHCP server can fix this problem, I can configure these. I use DHCP server in ASG and have a DNS server for private network to resolve names for virtual machines that I create.

    Arun, the "fix" for the iPhone is to use L2TP over IPsec and to configure DNS on the 'Advanced' tab.

    as far as ssl is concerned.  How do you have dhcp setup on the astaro?

    Yes, I have DHCP configured on Astaro.

    I also noticed another anomaly. The nslookup resolves any site to IP but tracert does not.

    C:\>nslookup www.astaro.org

    This is not astaro dns server that you are querying, its comcast. Are you are using comcast as a dns server for your dhcp clients?

    Since nslookup cannot find a working DNS server on the VPN adapter, it falls back to the wireless interface settings.

    The point I am trying to make is that Astaro is not handing out correct DNS server IP address. When I manually assign a DNS server to Astaor VPN adapter, the nslookup starts using Astaro DNS server.

    exactly...please tell us EXACTLY in detail how you have your dhcp setup on the astaro.
