Linux Client for VPN

I have an Ubuntu desktop client that I would like to make an L2TP/IPSEC Tunnel connection from. Unfortunately, I can't seem to make it work.

When I do a "Cisco Compatible" vpn setup, it needs a group name. When I use OpenVPN, it wants user, ca, and private key certs.

Has anyone else configured a linux desktop as a VPN client to ASG?

Hi, I use the OpenSSL VPN settings in Astaro, download the config file from the End User Portal, and run the openssl client in Fedora.
Unzip the config files into /etc/openvpn on your Linux pc.

Thanks for the reply. I enabled SSL VPN, downloaded the zip from the user portal, and imported into the OpenVPN client in Ubuntu. Works perfectly. Thanks for the help.

I can't seem to get the VPN to work under the Ubuntu VPN manager. I was hoping you could give some more detail on how you got VPN working under ubuntu.

I don't know Ubuntu, but in Fedora 10-11 you have to use openvpn on the command line with sudo; NetworkManager is incompatible with this openvpn configuration.
