SSL VPN connection lost

Hello,

we have problems with some of our WinXP clients (remote clients). When connecting via astaro sslvpn client the connection is established (green light in the client), no error in the log. But sometimes the connections is lost after a short time (trying to ping a server on the remote site gives no answer), but the clients indicates a good connection, still green light. 

Reconnecting sometimes helps. 

So you can´t trust the traffic light... and the connection.

We are using 7.304 (ative cluster).

    ok, I have looked deeper to it: it seems that the routes are lost after some seconds when the connection ist established. This does not happen every time, but it does....

    Lars, if you are having inconsistent performance, then I would suspect a hardware issue.  Search on here for "MTU" and for "duplex" to see if one of these is part of the answer.

    Lars, if you are having inconsistent performance, then I would suspect a hardware issue.  Search on here for "MTU" and for "duplex" to see if one of these is part of the answer.

    Hi, it´s not an issue with the performance. 

    It looks like the winxp is forgetting the additional routing information for the tunnel after some seconds. This is happening with serveral laptops. 

    Reconnecting the tunnel sometimes helps, but this is not a solution.

    Perhaps "performance" was an injudicious choice of words; your problem feels like it's hardware-related, and that's the reason I made the suggestion I did.

    I have had the exact same issue and to date support hasn't been able to resolve, so I doubt it's a hardware issue.

    Lars,

    try adding those two lines to your client's .ovpn file:

    -- snip --
    route-method exe
    route-delay 2
    -- snap --

    Another one: "Don't be too hasty" after the connection has been set up, just wait for a few seconds until trying to use your VPN connection..

    Hope that helps (and I'd really like to see a solution to add those lines centrally on the Astaro)

    Hi Peter,

    tried your advice, with the same result.

    I also tried another tip to install openvpn-2.1_rc15 as client with the same configuration (also with and without the exe-routing). Same problem. It realy looks like a problem ore dependency to the hardware?

    We are using FSC S7220 and S7120 Laptops.
