After taking the time to setup IPSec VPN, I found that it wasn't quite what I expected. For some stupid reason, I thought it would be similar to being hardwired to the network. When trying to run this over a 144kbps IDSL line, I found that the latency was absolute garbage(~500ms). This pretty much kept me from doing anything over it, let alone try logging into a netware server.
So my question is, what do you all use your VPN for? Terminal services? Small data transfers? or do you just have a speedier internet connection? Or is there something I'm totally overlooking?
I spent a lot of time on this project and would like to get atleast some use out of it. But I am pretty much at a loss. Thanks in advance.
