I am looking at building a VPN across a few branch offices using Astaro...

does the QoS component of ASL allow you to prioritize the IP phone packets as "most important"???

This is a key consideration for routing IP phone calls from location-to-location...

the way QoS or traffic shaping works is, you can apply 3 different priopities to certain traffic based on SRC, DST and service for non-VPN outbound traffic... what i'm saying is yes, but for outbound only.

how would I do that? in the QoS menu under "network", it does not have options for the application (service) type in the drop-down menu...

So I would have to put all the IP phones in their own networks and say that phone network to phone network traffic is top priority?

i'm not sure what you mean, the QoS menu offers you th source network, the destination network and the service.
