Nortel VPN client (outbound)

Perhaps this is common knowledge, but I just wanted to tell you that I had zero problems using a Nortel VPN client (w32) from inside my ASL box, to a VPN server on the Internet.

Somehow, I thought this was going to be a problem with NAT (somewhat like the problems with Netmeeting), but apparently it is not.

Best regards,
Ørjan Sandland

  • The Nortel VPN client uses IPSEC.  To use it, create a filter for UDP 500 as a source and destination port, create a filter for ESP with the range set to 254:65535.  Then create rules to allow your masqueraded clients to use both filters.
