Can't activate EP again, after disabling it

Hi folks,

I decided to disable my Endpoint Protection because my Clinets didn't show up as online after a clean reinstall of my UTM and restoring a config backup file (https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/59/t/55915). By disabling it, i decided to keep all my data.

Now I want to enable EP again, but it just don't get activated, by clicking on "Activate Endpoint Protection" nothing happens.

I tried rebooting my UTM but still no luck.

So, what to do?

Thanks, Albeck.

  • Show us the Endpoint Protection Log from the time when you tried to enable the feature.

    Private Setup:

    • XG: HPE DL20 Gen9 (Core i3-7300, 8GB RAM, 120GB SSD) | XG 18.0 (Home License) with: Web Protection, Site-to-Site-VPN (IPSec, RED-Tunnel), Remote Access (SSL, HTML5)
    • UTM: 2 vCPUs, 2GB RAM, 50GB vHDD, 2 vNICs on vServer (KVM) | UTM 9.7 (Home License) with: Email Protection, Webserver Protection, RED-Tunnel (server)
  • The Endpoint Protection log is completely empty, 0 bytes.
  • I had a similar problem during the beta stage of UTM9. In my case it was not possible to disable Endpoint Protection.
Back then I got the hint to try it via Shell:

    • open a shell to your UTM
    • set the command cc
    • navigate to epp >> status >> epp$ (everything reachable via tab completion)
    • set value =0 and then =1
    • leave cc via quit
    • restart the epsecc sevice with: /var/mdw/scripts/epsecc restart

But do this only if you're a home user.
If it is a business appliance please contact your reseller for help.
