Sophos Endpoint install fails on Windows 8

Hi,

As Sys-admin, I allready have a laptop installed with Windows 8 Enterprise. (MSDN for the win [:D] )
But I ran into a problem.... See attached image.

When will Sophos be available for Windows 8 systems?

    Compatibility mode does not work for me.  It doesn't seem to matter whether or not it is 32-bit or 64-bit as I have both here, Server 2012 (now) and Windows 8.  Ti doesn't install on either one of those.  I did get it installed when I had Server 2008.

    Help me Sophos, you are my only hope!  [:P]

    When you re-download the installer from WebAdmin now, it contains Sophos AV Version 10.2 and installs fine under Windows 8.
    Just tested it successfully a few minutes ago...

    But the Update servers seem to be down at the moment, I cannot download updates...

    I have tried v 10.2 and like the previous version, it appears to install OK but there are no update locations shown so possibly not because the servers are down - they are blank!  So not sure if all is well yet with W8??

    The empty update locations also happened here with the old version on Win7.
    Reinstalling the client helped.

    Have tried to reinstall a couple of times but still no joy - the update log shows "no valid update location".

    I am guessing you mean the slim installer?  I also just tried to update my current installation on Windows 7 64-bit, the version has not changed.

    EDIT:  Just tried the slim installer installation, and it is now installing on my Windows 8 laptop.  Yay!  I did not try the full installer.

    My steps:
    [LIST=1]
    • uninstall the broken client
    • reboot
    • delte everything under C:\ProgramData\Sophos (except SSL-Client)
    • fresh download (full installer)
    • install sophos-client
      • [/LIST]

    On the fifth attempt the update locations appeared and all now seems well!  In addition, having installed the 9.004 update, the endpoint PCs are now appearing as On-line (hopefully they will stay as such) - So great.......

    How did you all know 10.2 is available?

    I am going to try now - This SOPHOS need to have a better way communicating these to us.

    I just downloaded the Slim Installer from UTM.
    Ran the Installer - It only installed the Auto Update (Still Blank Field) and Management Module ( I see from add remove program), somehow it did NOT install the main Anti-Virus Component. Throughout the whole process no error messages etc.

    SIGH !
