Allocate bandwidth On VPN connection

Hello,

It's possible to allocate a bandwidth quantity for a VPN connection, because I have some problems to connecting and managing devices when have many users connected to the gateway.

A solution please ?

Thank you.

  • You can only reserve bandwidth on an uplink (traffic leaving an Interface).  You must limit other traffic to "reserve" inbound bandwidth.  For example, if your ISP supplies you with 30Mbps and you want to reserve 2Mbps for your IPsec VPN connection, use two Download Throttling rules, in order:

    1. Limit 'Internet -> IPsec -> External (Address)' to 1000 Mbps
    2. Limit 'Internet -> Any -> External (Address)' to 28Mbps.

  • Dear Bob,

You are sure on this :

    1. Limit 'Internet -> IPsec -> External (Address)' to 1000 Mbps" And not 2Mbps ?

    Thank you

  • Yes.  In effect, #1 is an "Exception" for #2.  Traffic that qualifies for #1 is never seen by #2, so there will be no limit on that traffic while all other things are limited to 28Mbps.

  • Hi Bob,

I made the limitation in Qos, but i don't resolve the bandwidth problem, the VPN it's always very slow on peak hours, another solution ?

    Thank you.

  • Does it work if you decrease from 28Mbps to 20Mbps?  It could be that your ISP is not guaranteeing you a minimum of 30, so you might check with them to see what you can count on.

  • Dear Bob,

We paying our ISP for 20Mbps, but I just noticed in the Network Usage report, that the speed never exceeds 15Mbps for all the past 30 days. so it's normal that my limitation of 18Mbs/s not work.
