Hi,

I have just re-implemented VLANs into my network, I had originally removed these VLANs and had a flat network. I run an e-mail server behind the UTM and I use IMAP for retrieving e-mails both internally and externally. Since re-implementing the VLANs, I appear to have lost the remote IMAP connection. I have gone through the firewall and NAT rules which I have setup for IMAP, and I have updated the target's IP address to the new IP address of the e-mail server. Unfortunately, for some reason, port 993 (Secure IMAP), is not responding externally, where it had previously done so prior to re-instating the VLANs.

Here is the rule which I have, which did work previously.



I've tried using an online open port tester, Open Port Check Tool, but this reports that the the connection timed out.

    Rulz #1 was the first thing I had checked since you had pointed me in that direction earlier with the VLAN communication issue. The firewall does appear to be blocking this communication -



    But this did work previously, the only change in which I have made is to the network definition for vs08.hughes.network, by changing it's IP address from 10.0.0.19, to 10.0.1.19. If I enable the ANY>ANY>ANY firewall rule, in which I had created previously, port 993 is once accessible again externally.

    Update: I have just discovered that my firewall rules don't appear to be applying, when configured for hosts on VLAN1000 or 1001. If I move the host, vs08.hughes.network, to VLAN1 and change the IP address in the firewall rule, to reflect this change, port 993 is accessible again from the Internet.

    Richard, when posting a line from the firewall log, always grab the corresponding line from the full log file, not the Live Log.  The Firewall Live Log is the only Live Log that trades complete information for legibility.

    Also, please confirm that you did check #3 in Rulz.

    Bob, you seem to answer every problem! I had checked with #3 in Rulz, but I only had a scan though Network Definitions, but only seen a few definitions which had "Bound to". The definition for "vs08.hughes.network" didn't show "Bound to", so I went to edit it and discovered that it was bound to "Internal". I've changed this to > and it has resolved the problem! [:O]
