Thoughts on multiple slow ISP links vs. one fast link

I need some help from anyone who might some ideas about getting multiple data connections from the same ISP.

The local cable provider offers slower links at a notably better pricing ratio than faster links,  Therefore, depending on the setup, there is a considerable data transfer and pricing advantage to installing multiple slower links over one faster link.

I know that the single line maximum download and upload speeds will be faster than in the aggregate multi-line scenario.  On the other hand, the total multi-line aggregate data throughput should be broader and offer more simultaneous data xfer paths, than the single line scenario.  So they both have their advantages, at least on paper.

Does anyone have any experience with anything like this.  Does it work "as advertised", so to speak.
