QoS and trying to get my head around it!

Hi all,

I am trying to understand QoS from this perspective:

1. My cable download is 20 meg, upload is 2 meg.
2. Values needed for my ASG? 
a. External 20 meg down, 2 meg up? or leave down at default.
b. Internal leave internal down at default and set internal up at 2 meg?

Right now, I do not plan on setting any "shaping" for VoIP or the likes, but do plan to do so soon. I am just trying to figure out the best way to have these intitial settings set correctly.
