QoS and trying to get my head around it!

Hi all,

I am trying to understand QoS from this perspective:

1. My cable download is 20 meg, upload is 2 meg.
2. Values needed for my ASG? 
a. External 20 meg down, 2 meg up? or leave down at default.
b. Internal leave internal down at default and set internal up at 2 meg?

Right now, I do not plan on setting any "shaping" for VoIP or the likes, but do plan to do so soon. I am just trying to figure out the best way to have these intitial settings set correctly.

    I think the following reflects the current culture of understanding: In general, set the speeds just a little bit below real throughput.  For the External, if you always get 1998k up or better, then set your speed at 199?k; same  concept for the downlink speed setting.  For the Internal, since you don't have a DMZ, you could set the Internal uplink speed to the downlink of the External, and vice-versa.  Then you can enable both default settings on each interface

    I'm working on trying some QoS settings for my FioS internet/TV set up.
    I get a lot of pixelation on VOD (Sent via IP).
    My service is 30Mb down / 10Mb up. HD VOD uses ~7Mb and I have 2 HD set top boxes. So at one time, the most I'll need is 14Mb (15Mb for safety sake). That leaves me 15Mb for internet stuff. That's plenty.
    I have my External interface set up for 30Mb Displayed max (out), and 10Mb Displayed max (in).

    I have a dedicated interface that handles the FioS TV traffic. What do I need to setup to assure that the FiOS traffic interface always has 15Mb of bandwidth?

    Hi, try setting up a QOS bandwidth pool for the FioS TV network, and assign it minimum bandwidth of 15mbps.
