problema with smtp out and qos

good morning, I have a problem with the SMTP service

I have little upload speed on my ADSL line and to me this consuming all smtp service

So I would like to restrict the upload speed in the smtp service to 30kbps and I followed the instructions in this tutorial:

but when I send any mail with a lot of weight .. Astaro monitor shows me that consumes the 512kbps upload you have the whole line ..


What am I doing wrong?

which is the correct way to restrict the upload speed for this service??

    Please show pictures of the QoS 'Status' tab, your Traffic Selectors and your Bandwidth Pool.  Also, tell us if you're using the SMTP Proxy.

    Change your Source in the Traffic Selector from 'Internal (Network)' to 'External (Address)' and everything else should work fine.

    balfson good morning I made the change you told me (in the attachment you capture the amendment) but when I send an email heavier still occupies the entire bandwidth of the line increase ...

      what else we can try?

    Customers have the smtp server to a internal mail server (postfix) and Postfix is configured an outgoing SMTP proxy, which is the ip of Astaro

    I should have looked more closely at your pic of the Bandwidth Pool.  It should be on the External interface instead of the Internal.  Change that, and you should get what you want.

    The trick to using QoS in the Astaro is to realize that you can't determine what volume of bits come toward the Astaro's interfaces, you only can control what the Astaro sends.  In other words, you manually can shape traffic going from the Internal interface to the 'Internal (Network)' and from the External interface to the Internet.

    Another way to think of this is that "Service-in" Traffic Selectors only work with Bandwidth Pools on the Internal Interface, and "Service-out" rules only work with Bandwidth Pools on the External interface.

    it seems you have defined the traffic selector on the wrong interface - on the internal one (picture 3 of your second post at the top).

    Define the bandwidth pool on the external IF and you should be ok.
