qos bandwidth management is a great thing, but i think the most overlooked thing is that if you have too many open connections, you can still bring your internet to a grinding halt even if you're not using much bandwidth.
anyone that uses p2p knows that
It would be nice if in the qos maps had an option to SELECTIVELY limit the number of concurrent connections for a service, ip or subnet. just put a max number up.
AND/OR, say i would like to allow the full number of connections but when a higher priority service requires bandwidth, it can cut all connections on the lower priority levels to a specified minimum level starting with connections that aren't passing data, then prioritizing by age of connection.
For the lower priority services you could have a
1. checkbox to enable connection limiting
2. set a minimum and maximum connection number in a QoS map.
On high priority traffic you could have a:
1. checkbox to limit connections on rules below it
2. area to set which maps to limit connections by when this service is in use
what does everyone think about this?
