Does QOS do anything now?

Hello,

This seems a bit odd but I've been doing some downloads using rsync which is downloading at around 8Mb/s.  That's nice and speedy but I figured I wanted to use QoS to make sure my other traffic has precedence.  IVe set up some simple rules around Web and rsync traffic and found that restricting the upper limit of traffic doesn't do anything.

I decreased the upper limit until it was basically zero yet my traffic keeps humming along at 8Mb/s,

Does anyone know of tools one can use to check whether this protocol is being implemented correctly?

    You're only supposed to setup QOS on the external interface.

    aside from not having the ability to separately control segments, even when i just apply to external, there is no result.

    FWIW, QoS seems to work decently for us on v6.

    Instead of clogging up the tubes and causing latency to shoot up once the tube is full, it more gracefully degrades for us which was our goal - To not kill latency when there are a couple of bandwidth hogs.

    The issue of inbound vs. outbound is really trivial.

    If QoS is limited to outbound traffic, then all one needs to do is focus on a different interface.

    For instance, if one wishes to limit traffic inbound from the internet, then one can add rules for outbound traffic for the Internal interface.

    If we agree on this, can we please focus on the problem at hand:  QoS appears to do nothing on Astaro products.

    Is there no Astaro programmer that can chime in here?
