ATA machine? ATA is usually mentioned in context with serial ATA drives or raid. So I guess ATA machine could mean a computer with serial ATA drives and possibably serial ATA raid.
You say you use both independently of each other. Please explain? Do you mean you have the Asterisk PBX running by itself on the internet, and not being protected by your firewall? If this is the case you have a sip soft phone or an ip phone connecting to the Asterisk box?
I believe I need these ports forwarded on my ASL firewall to my Asterisk server. But I do not want to leave ports 10,000 to 20,000 open. Is there a better way to enable sip?
ATA = Analog Telephony Adapater . For changing your normal phone set into a VoIP set. When ATA is mentioned during a talk of VoIP, that is what is meant.
