pinging dmz from internal lan

I would like to know why can I ping my dmz. I  can ping it from my internal lan I thought the whole purpose of a dmz was not to allow any communication between the internal network and the dmz. I even created a packet filter that went like this internal to dmz reject but I was still able to ping the dmz . Is this a normal practice?

  • I have a similar problem! I just want to drop pings from one network to the firewalls interface. I created a service and packet filter rule to drop both ICMP echo request and reply. But the pings still work. How can I manage this?
