Optimal Firewall

First of all hi to all!

We're buying new firewall for the company and in that manner I would like to get some info and help from you aswell.

The needs that should be met for our company are the following:
  - Good security for our web server
  - Good logs made by firewall (we have really
    bad logging function with current firewall-
    3com office connect)
  - VPN connections

So I would like to ask you if you can serve me with some of your own experience with the firewalls. Furthermore I would like to ask you, if
possible, if you can show an example of log file from your firewall (one line would be enough).

If I didn't gave enough specification feel free to ask for more.

Well, it works. I havent tried too much, but you can use both pptp and ipsec VPNs. New v3.2 is supposed to have support for X.509 certificates too I think.

Logfiles may also have improved in v3.2

Hi asterix101

I have been using the astaro gateway for a month now and I am very pleased with its performance and features. My Astaro protects a network of 9 machines and 3 servers, I use AD authentication and the IDS system to protect my public facing servers and so far there have been no problems at all.

Is it an example of the packet filter log your after ? FYI unless you enable it Astaro will only log dropped packets that never made it to the internal network, logging all packets would produce a massive log file in a very short period of time.
