I don't think SMB or NMB are routable protocols...

but I do know of a package that will route it over a firewall, just can't remember its name

Bonezed, I think the original post was kind of cryptic anyway, but keep in mind that NBT/SMB bound to TCP/IP as a transport service is routable!

If there are resources on the other end of a router or gateway though, you need to configure the lmhosts file properly (especially if the samba server is serving logons).
Port 137, 139 and possibly some port in the 400-range for windows 2000 (sorry, don't remember it right now).

But I'm not certain we're talking about the same problem as the original poster :-))
