Mail report - Blocked attachments

You may have a report emailed to each user once or twice a day. Look in 'Email Protection >> Quarantine Report'.

We had the reports at first but that seemed to confuse and/or scare most of our users and only generated more calls/mails to support, while others just carelessly released everything. So we eventually decided to disabled that and follow up on it ourselves. But it would be nice if we could get some kind of signal if there are actually some files to check.

When I've rolled out Email Protection for a customer, I've had them precede that with an email explaining what to do with the Quarantine report.  If the users want to look at the spams, that's their problem, and they soon should tire of downloading and deleting.

If there are concerns about the level of care that folks might take in regard to improper downloads, limit 'Release Options' to 'Spam' and 'Expression'.  That way, if there are any other items they would like released from quarantine, they will alert you.  That's less effort for you than checking every item blocked for 'Malware', 'File Extension', 'Unscannable' or 'MIME-Type'.

That's what I suggested, an e-mail with some user friendly information and screenshots. Maybe even a reminder after a while. But no go.. We still have a lot of users who go "oh, this looks kinda complicated, I'm just going to ignore this, I'm not IT so I'm not required to understand this fancy computer stuff" [;)]
I think part of the problem also was that except for a message, the quarantaine report can't be customized (I think?) and/or localized. It's also too wide and cluttered so the end result comes across kinda "amateurish" and looks like the mail itself might be spam.. Making this customizable like the web templates would make a big difference.

I was under the wrong impression that if you don't allow them to release "File Extention", those mails wouldn't even show up on the report. But if they do and we get alerted when they try to release that's great. But I think I'll bring this up with my boss again, thanks for the suggestion! [:)]

You aren't alerted automatically, they will need to contact you.

Ahh okay, misunderstood that part. So they just see the blocked mail in the report without a release button next to it?
