To get mine working, I did the following:
1. Created a DHCP reservation for the Chromecast (I have a Windows DHCP Server, reservation assures that the Chromecast gets the same IP address all the time - can't set static IP on chromecast)

2. Create a Host Object in UTM with the Chromecast IP address (Definition & User > Network Definition > New Network Definition - name it Chromecast, select host and add IP address and Save)

3. Create a new exception list, Call it something like Device Whitelist (Web Protection > Filter Option > Exception Tab, Create New Exception List)

Skip these checks: 
Authentication 
Caching 
Block by download size 
Antivirus*
Extension blocking 
MIME type blocking  
URL Filter 
Content Removal 
SSL scanning 
Certificate Trust Check 
Certificate Date Check 
Accessed pages 
Blocked pages  
Do not display Download/Scan progress page 
 
For All Requests coming from this network
add the Chromecast Host object created in step 2

Save

4. Test - you can go back and uncheck items that were skipped to better secure your network.

* you may want to test the AV with your Chromecast.

This solution didn't work, in the live firewall log I only see DNS (white) going to my internal gateway an d the google DNS (8.8.8.8).

If you followed the steps above, the issue may be from the Wireless (I had to resolve a lot things on a controller based Cisco wireless system).
What wireless system are you running and at what Ghz is the SSID for the Chromecast? Chromecast only work in the 2.4Ghz band. *Addtionally, Chromecast discovery packets rely on the DIAL protocol operating at UDP port 1900 and send the requests to the address 239.255.255.250. Ensure that no firewall blocks connectivity between the Chromecast device and wireless client. 

We'll go from here.

today I did some testing again and found the following problem.

My network:
* Sophos UTM 9 latest updates
* Interal (default internal interface)
* VLAN110 (Tagged) -> Wifi used for my wifi devices (incl. Chromecast and Android tables for configuring the ChromeCast)
* VLAN120 (Tagged) -> Wifi used for guests
* Zyxel 1123-AC Acces point -> with two SSIDs using both VLANs

The test:
Removed the VLANs from the SIDD and access point

Result:
ChromeCast is working, without any rules in Sophos.

I've found the solution, I needed to add the wireless VLAN to the NAT option, then the ChromeCast worked without any problem and without any additional rules.

I'm not sure what your last post means eco, but it may indicate that your Host definition for ChromeCast violates #3 in Rulz.
