DynDNS doesn't work [many German complaints]

It seems that the Dyn DNS functionality does not work.

Per ususal, my Comcast ip address changed and per usual, I lost all email functionality due to the fact that they were being sent to someone else's IP address.

Per usual, I had to manually change my ip address at DynDNS.com once I found the service interruption. There were no alerts or anything else from the Astaro Gateway. The DynDNS entry in the gateway suggests that all is working great. NOT! The time of the previous update showed yesterday. Daily updates are not adequate if that's what's going on. Of course there is no indication as to how often this is updated [if it's working properly].

Searching this forum I see lots of German language complaints about this but I don't read German so I don't see any resolution or description of the problem.

There were only a few in the last year, and you're right, there was no one that posted a resolution. The threads all just stopped as if the complainant had resolved the problem and didn't bother posting the result.

I would suspect incorrect logon credentials in the Astaro. Is there anything in the DNS Proxy log? I'm not sure what to search for.

You could always reconnect your connection and see if the new IP is updated. Should be instant if DynDns is working proplery

Could you explain what 'reconnect your connection' means? I am in this situation again. My ip address has changed and I have to log into DynDNS to get inbound services like email functioning. This is absurd.

I have network connection and never lost it, so I'm puzzled what this might mean.

Ahhh... disabling and re-enabling the DynDNS service does nothing. I'm thinking this is what you might have meant. The date of the last update does not change.

This was user error. The source of the problem is that what the DynDNS interface syncs is the single Dyn-centric domain name (which are rarely used in my circles). What I needed was independent entries for the aliases. My bad.
