Web Security Reporting 8.202

Finally got around to trying some reporting on our web use.  For me the reporting is a disappointment, particularly as I hoped that I would be able to generate reports similar to Web Security Statistics page with its 10 top users, 10 top sites etc etc.  Were it possible to send such a report to the departments, I believe it would be very useful and communicative.  Were I to try and approximate this information I would need to create 8 or so separate reports for each department, and would lack graphics (unless I created another 8 separate reports with graphics).

I wonder whether others have tried the reports and what their assessment has been.

In conclusion, it's a pity that the format designed and displayed under Web Security Statistics hasn't been given as a choice under the reporting options!

    That seems like an excellent suggestion - the ability to generate Excutive reports by Department -is that waht you had in mind?  Is that already suggested on feature.astaro.com?

    I agree with BangkokBob. Web Reporting in version> 8.103 is big disappointment.
    I am still on version 8.103, waiting that astaro will do something on Web Reporting, but it seems that almost nobody need this service.

    I think that Astaro has been slow to recognise that good reporting is a great deliverable for companies and a significant differentiator from their competition.

    The executive reports that we have now are good, but their genesis took a long time and the reports have remained pretty static since then.  I can't remember how many years it took to get different daily weekly and monthly reports.

    The changes included with 8.2x are more suited to screen displays of information rather than proper reporting.  The improvements are now half done.  By using the screen information from the Web Statistics on the main menu as a template, or by taking the web report section of the existing executive report and using that to generate a report by department would be a great step forward.

    I will add this suggestion to feature.astaro.com for voting.

    I am still on version 8.103, waiting that astaro will do something on Web Reporting, but it seems that almost nobody need this service.
    There won't be any more feature changes to the 8.1x branch, but there were some major changes made to Web Reporting in 8.2x, with more to come in future.

    I am currently evaluating Astaro for a client and we are both pretty disappointed with the reporting functions. 
    Is there any way to access the backend database and use a 3rd party reporting tool?

    you can have the logs exported out ..that's in the reporting section of webadmin

    Hi all, 

    thanks for the information about the reporting. 

    As the new reporting is quite flexible and solves all reports i ever looked for i am relatively sure that it can solve yours. 

    At BangkokBob, it is easily possible to create an email report that shows the Top10 Users, Top 10 Sites, Top 10 Blocked Categories of a specific departmer and send it weekly to the department hat. 

    If you can list the reports you are seeking for, i hope i can explain you and everybody else how this can be achieved or i can learn what is still missing.

    Gert, I'm working with the beta. Just trying departmentalization in Web Security Reporting.

    I'm not able to make it work for Networks/Hosts.

    I'm able to get it to work with individually-synced users that validate via AD-SSO, but there's no way to drag an existing "Sales Dept." backend group into a Department definition.

    Also, for users Local to WebAdmin, but that auth to the web proxy via AD-SSO, there's no way to get them into a Department.  I can create a filter with the username, and that works fine.

    Thanks for the info William, but what I would like is to be able to use a 3rd party tool to drag-n-drop the required fields.

    I'll find a way in sometime [;)]
