Internet uplink is down after uplink balancing.

Hello,
I have an ASG220 7.507, and I recently enabled uplink balancing in a multi-path config with a T1 and a FiOS WAN link.  The links are both from the same ISP (Verizon), but do not share a common address or range.

A couple of days after enabling the uplink balance interface I started receiving Admin email notifications, almost every day, that one or the other Internet link was down and then back up again.

Most were back up within a minute, but one was down for 5 minutes.
I had not received any of this type email notification prior to uplink balancing.

Does anyone know if this is to be expected, or is there something in my config that needs to checked/changed.

Thanks in advance for any good insight.

  • Are you using automatic link monitoring, or have you specified your own hosts for monitoring?  It very well could be that the link itself is not dropping, but maybe access to the monitoring hosts is (Internet routing issues, congestion, etc.).  I haven't seen a problem with this function yet, except at a site where it turned out their cable connection (cable modem), despite the claims of the ISP, was dropping on a regular basis.
